# Overview

Every command works two ways: as a prefix command (`>duty manage`) and as a slash command (`/duty manage`). Slash commands give you autocomplete and argument prompts; prefix commands are faster once you know them. This book writes the prefix form throughout.

The default prefix is `>`. Management can change it in **Dashboard → Basic Settings**.

## How a member is identified

Several commands take a user. You can pass:

* A **Roblox username**, which is matched directly against Roblox.
* A **Discord mention**, which is resolved to a Roblox account.

For a mention, the bot first looks for a linked account (see [`>link`](/bot-commands/utility.md)). If the member has not linked one, it falls back to their **nickname**, which on this server is their Roblox username. Nicknames carrying a callsign and rank work too — in `LA-12 | SGT | RobloxUsername`, the last segment is used.

If neither resolves, the command tells you which of the two failed rather than blaming the username.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://csrpmoddocs.officialcaliforniastateroleplay.com/bot-commands/bot.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
